Sounds like Thelma has some issues.

I'm not American. I'm from New Zealand but I did live in Japan a few years ago and, Oh yeah. I also became a convert to Japanese girls while over there. I say while I was there, which means I didn't go there because I couldn't get any back home. Yep, sorry kitten, but most guys do prefer J-girls to western girls over there and it's not due to any deficiency on the guys part, but to a deficiency on your part.

I am wondering why a supposedly hot looking woman with a master's degree in english and plenty of cash is working as an english teacher in Japan and getting ignored by geeks. You could have left school at 15 and eaten pizza three times a day and you'd get the same results. Pretty sad.

All I have to say is, nice try Thelma, but she and women like her have no power over this male. Thelma, you might want to head back to the states where popular media leads the charge in trying to convince women that they should try to be men. You will feel more comfortable about yourself there.

Hey Thelma, I'd like to ask you a couple of questions. A non insulting reply would be greatly appreciated too.

I've spent a bit of time in Japan myself and I must admit, you're right, in that a lot of geeky looking western guys are hooking up with attractive japanese girls. You ask why this is? Well, instead of asking the other gaijin guys, why don't you ask the japanese girls themselves what they find attractive about these guys? Remember, it takes two to tango. These partnerships aren't just the result of a fetish from the guys side. The j-girls do have a mind of their own remember and there's obviously something about these guys they're attracted to? Has it occured to you that they might prefer western men over japanese men because the western men show them more respect and affection than japanese men, regardless of how they look? If you refer to Lei's thread above ( the japanese american woman) she said that that's why she married a western man.

Now my question is... are you saying that ALL gaijin men who have japanese girlfriends are geeks and losers or just that a lot of them are?

If I go to Japan and have a japanese girlfriend, does that automatically make me a geek and a loser.

I'm also curious as to why this is such an issue for you? Let's turn this around. Say I went to a country where there were lots of geeky looking western girls with sexy local guys. I doubt I'd give it a second thought. Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. So why do you keep going on about this. What does it matter who goes out with who. Even one of the few women writing in here told you to let it go... Basicly, who cares.

I agree to some extent with this....except I would like to through out an opinion.

Yes, more than likely part of a biological imperative, but your average male between 15-35 is probably fairly interested in having sex. Especially in the younger end of that range, I would guess that the majority of males would rather have sex with an attractive (by their perspective) partner rather than address their social shortcomings.

Now I can't really speak for the upper ranges of that opinion as I am still in my 20's....but I'd guess I am fairly correct in that range.

This isn't something new either...I remember reading Plato's "The Republic" and seeing a line about an older man who was glad to have reached old age and to be free of a "fierce and frenzied master", referring to the sex drive of his youth. I am not 100% sure of the wording or where it was, and certainly not trying to be some arrogant ass quoting old works....I just remember laughing at that particular bit and thinking things have been the same for thousands of years.

Oh well, again I would love to see Thelma's responses.

I watched the Charlies' Angels movie last night and it was the funniest thing I've seen in ages. It's about time to have women as the stars of an action movie!

My favorite scene was when Lucy Liu went to the computer company and beat all the nerds into slobbering submission.

I thought you had a serious issue with this or something. It would have been a rather bizzare thing to get your knickers in a twist about anyway (knickers is spelt with a silent k Thelms. I thought you said you had a degree in English Lit).

Besides, I think Japan and japanese women have more serious issues to be concerned with. Japanese women have far more to be worried about with their own men. And as for fetishes, forget about Gaijin men, what about the dodgy fetishes of japanese men. my God! what's with the school girl thing?! I think Japanese guys hold the world title when it comes to perversions and fetishes.

It always amuses me when I think back to my stay in japan, at how pretty much ALL the western men including the ugly/geeky ones had japanese girlfriends, while most of the western women were single. (Not meaning to cause offense here) but I suspect that a lot of the western women in Japan perhaps don't get the same level of attention from the western men anymore. So unless they make more effort, they end up alone. If, of course, the WW is happy to stay single for the duration of her time in japan then none of this matters. Otherwise, I think Japan can be a lonely experience for many western women? I must admit, I did feel sorry for some of the Gaijin women over there.

I read somewhere that Japan has even been described as "Hell for western women and heaven for western men", A slight exaggeration perhaps but with a grain of truth in there I think.
